NWSW regions: Former Separatist commander says gun, not solution to end conflict

Nging Emmanuel who is popularly known as Capo Daniel was a deputy defense chief for an armed separatist group, the Ambazonia Defense Forces, ADF, fighting in the North west and South West regions of Cameroon.

Capo Daniel resigned citing differences in ideologies.

On May 4, 2024, Mr. Ngong shared a release where he stated categorical that he is no longer interested in an armed struggle, ‘This is part of our push for a peaceful negotiated settlement of the conflict between the State of Cameroon and Ambazonia,’ he told CNA.

Ngong Emmnauel who created a platform called Ambazonia Peoples’ Rights Advocacy Platform said it was time to lay down weapons and seek lasting solutions to the conflict via diplomacy.

He however said all forces should stop all hostilities but should hold their weapons for self-defense. It is not yet clear if the separatists fighting on ground zero will adhere to his instructions because the group has not clearly announced its influence on fighters on the ground.
