The presidential couple, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and his wife, First Lady of the Nation, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, who since this weekend are in the interior of the mainland, have consecrated the day of March 29, Palm Sunday, to sharing with other faithful the Holy Services celebrated by the Reverend Father Leopoldo Santos Ndong, in the Holy Parish Church of Santiago Apostol in Akoacam-Esangui, a town that gave birth to the Equatorial Guinean Head of state.
With the presence of several authorities, including the Second Vice President for National Defense and State Security, Teodoro Nguema Mangue Obiang; the Ministers of State of the Presidency, ministers, delegate ministers, vice ministers, presidential advisers, and dozens of Catholics from Akoacam-Esangui, the Eucharistic celebration started outside the temple of Santiago Apóstol, where the believers gathered for a prior blessing of the palm branches.
In recent years, the President and his wife usually spend a day of the Easter season or Lent in the district of Mongomo, to attend various celebrations of Holy Week, either on Palm Sunday, the processions or the liturgy of Easter Sunday.
