Unannounced Visit to Tenkodogo Amphitheater Construction Site Aims to Expedite Delayed Work

Ouagadougou: A delegation from the National Office for Major Projects, led by Dr. Bruno Wendpanga Compaor©, made an unannounced visit to the construction site of the 500-seat amphitheater in Tenkodogo on Saturday. The objective was to restart the pace of work, after several months of delays.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this project, located next to the Cit© des Forces Vives in Tenkodogo, is one of 12 amphitheaters with 2,000 and 500 seats currently being built as part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education. It is part of a national effort to improve access to university infrastructure.

The inspection mission was composed, in addition to the Executive Director of the National Office for Major Projects, of the Regional Director of Higher Education, Dr. Dabon©, the technical advisor Ms. Ouattara, and experts from the National Office, Mr. Sor© and Ms. Daillo.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Bruno Compaor© praised the company's commitment despite initial difficulties: "The company has already reached approximately 15% completion on the ground, with 80% of the foundations completed. But it lost three to four months due to the failure to validate the execution plan on time," he said.

It recommended that work be intensified, including at night, to make up for the backlog. The National Bureau also urged the inspection firm to increase its presence, deeming it insufficient to assign a single inspector to a project of this size.

Paul Diassibo Nassouri, technical director of the Miloungou Construction company, presented the technical characteristics of the work: a R+2 building with an accessible roof (equivalent to R+3), including a 500-seat amphitheater, classrooms, laboratories and tutorial rooms, over an area of 3,000 m², all within a secure perimeter of 4 hectares.

Initially scheduled to last nine months, the project is now subject to a new, restrictive schedule. "We're aiming for 20% monthly progress. The site is lit, secured by surveillance cameras, and supplied with water and equipment," he reassured.

Ridouane Diallo, civil engineer and site controller, recalled that the control mission aims to guarantee technical compliance, the quality of the work, and the rapid resolution of difficulties encountered on the ground.

With an estimated total cost of 3.3 billion CFA francs, the construction of this amphitheater will contribute to improving learning conditions in the region. The structure also serves as a powerful symbol of the president's commitment to education.

All the stakeholders involved - regional authorities, technicians, construction companies, national experts - have committed to respecting the standards and doing everything possible to deliver the infrastructure as quickly as possible, to serve the students of the Nakamb© region and Burkinabe higher education.
